General tasks

Clear up beds with any finished crops and prepare the soil for over-wintering crops such as, garlic, onion, broad bean and  green manure. Draw soil up around brassicas (a term used for vegetables such as cabbage, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts) to protect from frost; mulch using leaf mould and garden waste. Support tall brassica plants to protect from winds. Protect  all brassica and spinach plants using net before pigeons return. Cutback strawberry plants to 2.5 cm (1 inch) from the ground; do not compost strawberry leaves.

Sow / plant

Spring cabbage, garlic, onion sets, over-wintering lettuce and spinach, strawberry and green manures.

Harvest

French bean, runner bean, courgette, marrow, pumpkin, squash,  lettuce,  spinach, chard, spring onion, sweet corn, tomato,  radish, raspberry, apples, pears.
